Research Focus

Dr. Rainbolt has a 50% extension and 50% research appointment in the Agronomy Department at the University of Florida. He is located at the Everglades Research and Education Center in Belle Glade, FL. His responsibilities include developing weed control programs for sugarcane, sod, and vegetable crops grown in the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA).

Current research includes:
• Preemergence weed control programs for sugarcane.
• Weed control in sod production.
• Weed population dynamics in green cane harvest systems.
• Relationship between Southern Chinch Bugs and weeds in turf.
• Herbicide and water table interactions in sugarcane.
• Biology and ecology of weeds in sugarcane.
